Giovanni Gioviale (1885-1949). One of the greatest mandolin players that have ever lived because of his unlimited ability and his outstanding talent and elegance to phrase the music. Born in Catania, his fame in no time crossed the Italian border and took him to America. In New York he made more than 50 records with the most famous record companies. He was a man of profound humility. During his career he earned a great deal of praise from famous personalities like Mascagni. He carried the mandolin to the utmost of brilliant virtuosity and was endowed with a particular skill for timbre.
